I'm Not the Only Sleepy One

My mom works very hard and she says it's very stressful. She always comes home very tired and sometimes falls into bed without eating. A couple of times she came home and opened the door and dropped to the floor on her hands and knees. She says this hurts her knees very much. At first I thought she was playing with me, but then she didn't seem to want to play. It is about three of my hops from the door to the living room rug. Mommy crawled to that rug, reached up and grabbed a pillow from the couch and slept right there on the floor. Whew! Now that's tired. I didn't mind though. I just sat there and waited for her to wake up. After about two hours she did wake up and got up and went to bed. She collapsed on the bed in her clothes and didn't even take her shoes off. About two hours later she woke up again and took off her shoes, but stayed in her clothes. Boy, did she look a wreck in the morning. She seemed really happy to climb in the shower. What! Is she crazy? She likes the shower!

My mommy is so tired because she is sick, but she doesn't talk about it much. She doesn't like people to know. However, she says it's getting harder and harder to hide it from people because she is getting weaker and weaker. She has one of those motorized scooters to help her from getting so tired when she has a long ways to walk. It has a little basket on it. Gee, I wish she would give me a ride in that basket.

Now I know you're probably wondering what sickness makes my mom so tired, so I'll tell you. She has this nasty disease called multiple sclerosis, but she just refers to it as MS. You cannot see MS or smell MS or often know that a person has MS, but MS is with a person for the rest of their lives. People who have MS usually live a shorter life than people without it because their immune systems are messed up. This means that Mommy needs to stay away from people with colds, sore throats, flu, etc. I'm so happy she can't catch anything from me because I want her to live longer than me. If Mommy could catch any cat diseases, she'd have done so a long time ago. heh

If you would like to know more about MS, you can visit the National MS Society to learn about this illness which makes my mom sick. If you live in San Diego, you can go to the MS Dinner Auction which has a page on Facebook to show your support for my mom and others with MS.

xoxox I love you, Mommy.

  1. Your mom definitely works too hard. She should not be that tired. Maybe this week will be better. You are a good cat to sit by and let her sleep.
